SCROLL DOWN

I am Simon

I am something between a Service, a UX and an Interaction Designer. Studying Design Futures and Metadesign (MA) at Goldsmiths, UoL also made me a Design Thinker and wannabe philosopher.
Currently I work at Designworks BMW in Munich.

Everyone designs who devises courses of action
aimed at changing existing situations into preferred ones.
— Herbert Simon

As nice as the quote above seems, I actually don't agree with it. Design isn't as technical as going from A to B because B is "better". In fact, I think design starts with finding out what A actually is. Hence, designing is a problem-finding process before it can even begin to be a -solving one.

Metadesign

I studied Designfutures and Metadesign from 2015-2016 at Goldsmiths, UoL, which brought me on a journey to understand how systems interconnect. Designing design made it about more than just creating something pretty. Instead it's political, social, technological, environmental, epistemological, and communicational.
(And pretty.)

Service Design

For me, design is in everything. It's not only how we buy a ticket for the train home but how, why and when we get home in general. My work shows how much I care for the people I design for because it's not only addressing their needs and behaviors. No, it understands the contextual and systemic environment people are in.

UX & Ix Design

When I design something, I always try to focus on the core of the matter. Which information needs to reach the user at what point of time and how is that done best? Good interactions depend on the UX (and the other way around), which ultimately decides how positive the "huh!" sounds when trying out that one new thing.
